What is human trafficking?
Human trafficking, as defined in the UN Trafficking in Persons Protocol,
involves the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harbouring, or receipt
of individuals through various coercive means for exploitation purposes.
Human trafficking is a global crime where people are bought and sold for
profit. This horrific crime affects everyone, regardless of gender, age, or
background. Traffickers exploit vulnerable people, those who are desperate
or simply looking for a better life, by using violence, fake employment
agencies, and false promises of education or jobs.
